Sexy Beast (2001): Delicious antidote to \'Lock Stock\' guff. Dreamlike and claustrophobic, great performances from Winstone and Kingsley.
Canterbury Tale, A (1944): Classic P&P where their feel for the essence of Englishness overcomes the inherent sentimentalities of the plot.
Kaos (1984): Wonderfully captures the whimsical cruelty in Pirandello\'s stories, reflected in the beauty and harshness of the landscapes.
Pennies From Heaven (Mini Series) (1978): A gem from the days when TV had space and budget for challenging innovative drama. Crystalises Potter\'s familiar themes of lust and repression, and the conflict between fantasy and reality.
Berlin Alexanderplatz (TV Series) (1980): You need to invest time and energy in this, but the reward is 15 hours of Fassbinder at his greatest, peerless performances by Lamprecht and Gottfried John, culminating in the stunning 2 hour Epilogue fantasia. Brilliant.; DVD ~~$99.95~~ $74.95
