Jim Carrey acquits himself admirably as an ordinary guy who discovers that his girlfriend (Kate Winslet) has had her relationship with him ‘erased’ from her memory, the film bares out the consequences of his decision to go through with the same outrageous procedure.

Though at times prone to over-playing its zaniness, this finds a poignant resolution that justifies all of the mad contrivances gone before, and may well leave you hankering already for a repeated viewing.

2 stars (Good Try) Lovely to see Kate Winslet in an over-the-top role. Tom Wilkinson is great, too; I especially liked his bright blue tie. But this American comedic style is kinda stupid & hard all at once; no subtlety. A triumph of style over substance. ~Sandy
