Ring 0 (2000)
The suspense builds slowly, and while this prequel is not compulsory viewing, its final scenes are worth the time.
Tuesday (2008)
A pretty good first few scenes but it doesn't go on with it. Maybe on another day(?)
Liam (2000)
The streets and the other Lancashire locations look very authentic for the period being depicted and the screenplay doesn't tread softly when dealing with the effects of the depression on individuals and their families.
Amelie (2001)
Continuous entertainment aided by some exceptional design work. The lead casting choice is a masterstroke.
Letters From Iwo Jima (2006)
It is good that the script is in Japanese and although it is over two hours, which is typical of the director, it is never boring.
Girl (2018)
I think the screenplay and the lead performance portrayed the mental challenges very well.
Queen & Slim (Queen and Slim) (2019)
There are some good segments but they are too far spread out – a more compact screenplay would have helped.
Last Days (2005)
It plays like, but not as boring as, a home movie.
Dirty War (2004)
It doesn't get sidetracked, there are no subplots – it goes straight for the jugular.
Pan's Labyrinth (El Laberinto del fauno) (2006)
Well done to the creature people but the unnecessary violence hinders its scoring well as a fantasy. Its excellent soundtrack is a plus.
